With the current challenging economic climate, the benefits of sustainable procurement may be perceived by many organisations to be less critical than cutting costs. However, this event (run by Buying Support Agency - parent company of GreenBuying.co.uk) will show you how sustainable procurement and cost savings go hand-in-hand and when done properly, deliver significant cost reduction and increases in efficiency, as well as supporting the environment.
Who should attend and why?
This event is ideal for business leaders, environmental and purchasing managers, buyers and procurement practitioners wishing to further their knowledge whilst seeking to both win business and implement sustainable procurement within their organisations. Our guest speakers are leading figures in the field and will show you how sustainable procurement can have an immediate positive impact on the health of your organisation. You’ll also be given some practical tools and techniques to implement sustainable procurement effectively through an afternoon of workshops led by two highly experienced sustainable procurement professionals.

Mark Shayler has successfully helped businesses with eco-design and environmental change management. He's a big believer in doing better things rather than just doing things better. Mark Hedges: is a sustainable procurement specialist. He is a Technical Committee member having created BS8903:2010 ‘Principles and framework for procuring sustainably’, and also regularly advises the public and private sector, including direction, strategy and policy for Central Government.
Barney Smith: has spent 20 years in the environment sector and is a former Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Defra, managing large scale outsourcing projects such as outsourcing of back-office functions for large environmental organisations and optimising supplier relationships to deliver sustainability goals.
The combination of guest speakers and workshops offer a clear picture of how sustainable procurement can work for you. The event also offers you an opportunity to network with fellow environmental and procurement practitioners, plus there will be exhibition stands offering further advice and information.
