Having a CSR policy makes 'good business sense'
Hotels and events management companies should ensure they have a good corporate social responsibility policy in place, according to the manager of a leading hotel.
The growth in environmental awareness among firms has made it increasingly important for companies involved in hosting events to highlight their CSR credentials, Michael Sloan, the general manager of Novotel London West, told MyVenues.
In particular he emphasised the importance of hotels and other event venues ensuring they secure green supply chains.
"Obviously having a good CSR policy is important for reducing a business's impact on the environment, but I also believe that it makes very good business sense," Mr Sloan told the website.
"The business landscape is changing," he added. "Companies not only want to ensure they are adhering to their own environmental initiatives; they are also looking at their suppliers to ensure there are no bad links in the chain."
Last year, the Novotel London West hotel won a World Business Green award for its efforts in both encouraging energy efficiency and promoting sustainable procurement of the foods it uses.
