Gore launches "we" campaign
Al Gore has launched a marketing campaign to unite Americans into taking action on global change.
The $300 million (£150 million) three-year campaign called "we" aired its first TV adverts earlier this week and aims to lobby the US, and then the world, to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Mr Gore is leading the Alliance for Climate Protection, a non-profit organisation founded by Al Gore, with the ultimate aim to halt global warming. The Alliance involves a consortium of political, marketing and environmental organisations.
Brian Hardwick, the Alliance's director of communications, said: "We are essentially issuing invitations to all Americans of all walks of life to demand that leaders make this a priority."
He continued to explain that by leaders the Alliance means leaders in businesses and in churches. They also report that one million people have joined the "we" website.
Former Vice-President Al Gore won two academy awards for An Inconvenient Truth, his documentary film on global warming, and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his efforts to increase knowledge on climate change.
