Green Gas has made the headlines this week - it has reached a milestone whereby it supplies 1 million UK households. According to the G...

Car hire firm Enterprise Rent-A-Car has opened its first 'green branches' which will have predominantly environmentally-friendly hybrid cars.

The new green branches, at four locations in Atlanta, will have 60 per cent of its fleet compromising of hybrid cars.

Hybrid gas and electric cars will make up 30 per cent and another 30 percent will be fuel efficient vehicles.

Dan Miller, vice president for Enterprise in Atlanta, said the company "is committed to supporting new technologies and alternative fuels as they become commercially viable, and we’ll continue to make them more accessible to our customers".

Enterprise owns approximately 4,000 hybrid cars, 440,000 fuel-efficient cars and 73,000 FlexFuel vehicles across the US.

The company has eight designated FlexFuel branches, dedicated to the technology, as part of their aim to build consumer awareness about cars being fuelled with E85.

FlexFluel vehicles are designed to run on gasoline or a blend of ethanol up to 85 per cent (E85). US car giants American Motors and Ford have both embarked on new E85 ethanol support programmes.
