Green Gas has made the headlines this week - it has reached a milestone whereby it supplies 1 million UK households. According to the G...

Just one per cent of all UK companies are aware of their carbon footprint, according to a new survey.

The study, undertaken by the Carbon Trust, revealed an increasing numbers of firms in the UK believe they have been affected by climate change, with 27 per cent believing it offers new business opportunities.

However, the report's authors believe that individual company's lack of knowledge about their actual impact on the environment proves they are not yet taking sufficient steps to reduce their contribution to the problem.

"Our research shows that UK companies are more aware than ever of the realities of climate change and how it can directly impact on their business," said Tom Delay, chief executive of the Carbon Trust.

"Only one per cent of businesses surveyed knew their carbon footprint," he added. "This is one of the key first steps for any business wanting to act on climate change."

In the wake of its findings, the Carbon Trust called on businesses to utilise tools available to them to both measure their carbon footprint and take measures to reduce it, making savings to their energy bills at the same time.ADNFCR-1231-ID-18388218-ADNFCR
