DJ urges people to recycle

Speaking on behalf of the BCME (Beverage Can Makers Association), Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates has urged people to recycle.
The 25-year-old Chart Show host said that "we as individuals need to take it upon ourselves" to take steps to become more environmentally-friendly.
Although "it helps" to have celebrities and prominent figures discussing environmental issues, families should be talking about the issue and children should be considering such issues in schools, Yates commented.
"Recycling is definitely important, and recycling drinks cans, which are something that we all use and use a heck of a lot of, can definitely help the planet," he remarked.
According to the BCME, if all of the 20,000 people attending the O2 Wireless Festival in London per day this year recycled a drinks can, it would save enough energy to power the stage for 34 hours.
The BCME is a non-profit association that aims to promote the beverage can in Europe.
